Education has become a big industry in the country. Due to this, students who are unable to afford medical education in the country have to go to countries like Ukraine. The Supreme Court made this observation while hearing a case on Tuesday. The court said this while hearing several petitions, in which it was sought to order the central government to allow them to open pharmacy colleges. The Pharmacy Council of India banned the creation of new pharmacy colleges in 2019. The organization said that pharmacy colleges in the country are taking the form of industry and should be banned.
Hearing the case, Justices BR Gavai and Hima Kohli said, "Everyone knows that education has become an industry in the country today. Large business groups are operating them. You should think about them. People should go to countries like Ukraine because the cost of medical education is very high. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said in the court, 'The kind of situation in the country, attention should be paid to it. The colleges themselves have told the court that they have lost two years due to the government ban. We understand the requests of the students, but these colleges have become an industry.
Tushar Mehta, appearing for the government, said that the number of such colleges was increasing. That's why we banned it for 5 years. He said that the court knows how engineering colleges are being run like shopping centers in the country. There are already 2500 colleges in the country. To this, the court agreed and said that we also want to allow the number of colleges to increase in the country. At one time there were a large number of engineering and B.Ed colleges in the country. "We request the Pharmacy Council of India to consider the demand of the applicant colleges," the court said. Who had also filed applications in three High Courts?
