Even after the three waves of the corona pandemic have passed, the fear of the new variant of the virus remains in the minds of the people. Health experts and scientists are constantly engaged in research. Every time shocking facts are coming out in the research about Corona. Recently revealed research has found that almost every part of the body is affected by the initial infection of Covid-19. Short-term and some long-term risks may be seen in the infected person. People who get antibodies after the first infection and take the vaccine or booster dose can also fall prey to it. Repeated infections also increase the risk of death manifold. Sometimes infection adds to problems like diabetes, kidney disease, and mental health.

Recently, a new study has come to the fore regarding Covid-19 of Washington University School of Medicine and Veterans Affairs St. Louis Health Care System in St. Louis. This research has been done especially on people infected with Kovid-19 twice. It has been found that due to repeated infection of the corona, the risk of other diseases increases in many parts of the body. Repeated corona infection causes significant damage to the lungs, heart, brain, blood problems in the body, and musculoskeletal and gastrointestinal systems. Along with these, repeated infections also increase the risk of death manifold. Sometimes infection adds to problems like diabetes, kidney disease, and mental health.

Dr. Jugal Kishore, Professor, Director of Community Medicine, at Safdarjung Hospital, tells Amar Ujala that many precautions should be taken by the infected person during corona infection. The more times a person is corona infected, the more the risk will increase. Due to infection for the second and third time, the risk of many other diseases in the body increases. The risk of contracting diseases remains for the first 30 days after infection and the next few months. Which we generally call the symptoms of long covid. We should still follow the rules we were following earlier, including wearing masks. Because even today many variants of the virus exist. The mutation of the virus is also increasing. In such a situation, every possible effort should be made to avoid infection.

These variants are more dangerous

Research revealed that Kovid-19 variants Delta, Omicron, and BA.5 were more responsible for the infection. More trouble was caused by those people who had taken the corona vaccine before re-infection. The researchers also found that people who were re-infected with COVID-19 were twice as likely to die from the infection. Whereas people who had a repeat infection were three and a half times more likely to develop lung problems. While repeated infections were three times more likely to develop heart disease, a single exposure to the virus increased the risk of neurological disease by 1.6 times.
