There has been debate around the world over the re-infection of Corona. It is being said that such cases are rare. The report so far was also suggesting that re-infection is less dangerous. But the first study in the country has claimed that re-infection can be more deadly than before.
This study is probably the first study in the world to have two unaccompanied health workers who have recurred corona infections within a few months. Both individuals showed no symptoms both times. In this study, the genetic structure of the coronavirus found in them was studied. The results are even more shocking.
According to research published in the medical journal Clinical Infectious Diseases, a 25-year-old male and 28-year-old female health worker working in a hospital in Noida was diagnosed with corona infection on May 5 and 17, respectively. The corona reports of both came negative on May 13 and 27 after treatment. Both had no symptoms. After this, routine checks of this two personnel were found to be corona infected again on August 21 and September 5. Their reports were again found negative on the 14th and 6th days after treatment.
Both cases were intensively studied by researchers at CSIR's Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), Government Institute of Medical Sciences Greater Noida, and the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research. Also studied the genetic structure of the RNA of the virus during both infections. This has yielded two startling results. Viral load was found to be higher in both patients for the second time compared to the earlier infection.
The higher the viral load, the more deadly the disease can be. In the first infection, the viral load in the patient was 89.08 percent for the first time, which was 99.96 percent of the second time. In the second patient, it increased from 85.60 to 92.14 percent. Secondly, a major change in the genetic structure of the virus was observed in a patient.
This change indicates immunity in the virus against antibodies that neutralize the infection. The question is, when the re-infection is fatal, why do both patients not show symptoms. Probably because of the strong immune system of their body.
Possible re-infection without symptoms
The lead author of the research, Sridhar Shivashubbu, said that this study suggests that infection can occur again without symptoms. Secondly, high viral load is also worrying. Similarly, the genetic changes observed in the virus also need to be further researched. Others in the research team include Vivek Gupta, Rahul C. Bhoyer, Abhinav Jain, Saurabh Srivastava, Rashmi Upadhyay, Mohammad Imran, Bani Jolly, Mohit Kumar Diwakar, Deeksha, Sharma, Paras Sehgal, Gyan Ranjan, Rakesh Gupta, and Vinod Skaria Were.
