Coronavirus Update: India has recorded the lowest number of Covid-19 cases since March 2020. According to the data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday, 89 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in India, which is the lowest since March 27, 2020. Active cases have also come down to 2,035.
The decline in the daily positivity rate
The number of Covid cases stood at 4.46 crore (4,46,81,233). According to the updated data at 8 am, the death toll is 5,30,726. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.05 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was estimated at 0.09 percent.
The ministry said that active cases now comprise 0.01 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has risen to 98.80 percent. A decrease of 84 cases has been registered in the active COVID-19 cases in a span of 24 hours. The number of people who recovered from the disease increased to 4,41,48,472, while the death rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.
More than 220 crore vaccine doses given
According to the website of the ministry, 220.17 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been given so far in the country under the nationwide vaccination campaign. India's COVID-19 tally crossed 20 lahks on August 7, 2020, 30 lahks on August 23, 40 lahks on September 5, and 50 lahks on September 16. The country crossed the grim milestone of four crores on January 25 last year.
