Five-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had to face defeat from Lucknow Supergiants in the last match, but now the CSK team is returning to its fort Chepauk and it is not easy for any team to defeat them here. Lucknow had earlier defeated Chennai on its home ground, but it will face the challenge of breaking the fort of Chepauk.
Rachin Ravindra's form a cause for concern for Chennai
CSK will now look to cement their claim to the playoffs by winning the next three matches. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dubey have scored most of the runs for Chennai so far. However, the form of opener Rachin Ravindra is a matter of concern for CSK. Chennai has been sending Ajinkya Rahane to open the innings for the last few matches due to which Gaikwad is coming in at number three. After scoring three half-centuries as an opening batsman, Gaikwad will be faced with a dilemma whether to play at number three or open the innings again.
Lucknow will have tobe careful of Pathirana
Lucknow captain KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock had performed well in the last match against CSK, but at the Chepauk Stadium, Lucknow's batsmen will have to be wary of Mathisha Pathirana who is Chennai's best bowler. Apart from Pathirana, CSK will also hope for better performances from fast bowlers Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, and Mustafizur Rahman.
Lucknow hopes for Mayank's return
Lucknow will be hoping that their fast-bowling sensation Mayank Yadav makes a comeback in the match against CSK after missing two matches due to a lower abdominal strain. If Mayank is successful in making a comeback then it will strengthen the bowling attack of Lucknow. Although in the absence of Mayank, Mohsin Khan, and Yash Thakur tried to limit Chennai to a low score, they could not stop Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the last overs, who has been batting stormy this season.
Both Lucknow and CSK have better records in death overs.
Both Chennai and Lucknow are among the top three teams whose economy rates have been excellent. Lucknow's figures also go down a bit because they have played low-scoring matches at home. CSK has taken wickets at an average of 23.28 and an economy of 10.13, while Lucknow has taken wickets at an average of 21.53 and an economy of 10.24.
The probable playing 11 of both the teams for this match is as follows...
Chennai Super Kings: Rachin Ravindra, Ajinkya Rahane, Ruturaj Gaikwad (captain), Moeen Ali, Shivam Dubey, Ravindra Jadeja, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wicketkeeper), Shardul Thakur, Tushar Deshpande, Mustafizur Rahman, Mathisha Pathirana.
Lucknow Supergiants: Quinton de Kock, KL Rahul (captain and wicketkeeper), Devdutt Padikkal, Nicholas Pooran, Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Matt Henry, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan.
