Covid Vaccine: Covovax will be approved as a booster vaccine in 10-15 days – Adar Poonawala

Covovax Booster Vaccine: Covovax Vaccine will be approved in the next 10 to 15 days as a booster vaccine against Covid-19. This was stated by Adar Poonawalla, Chief Executive Officer, of Serum Institute of India (SII). He reached a program at Bharati Vidyapeeth University on Sunday. Talking to reporters here, he said that the vaccine works very well against the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. When asked about the states and districts not getting the Covishield vaccine, he said that the central government has enough stock for supply.

 

'The best booster'

Adar Poonawalla said, "Covovax will get approval as a booster in the next 10-15 days. It is the best booster as it works very well against Omicron as compared to Covishield." He said, “All this was possible because of the leadership of our central government, our state governments, health workers, and manufacturers. Everyone worked together for a common goal.

 

Everyone is looking toward India

Poonawalla said that everyone is looking towards India today. Not only in terms of healthcare but also because India has managed to take care of a large and diverse population. Also helped 70 to 80 countries during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Poonawalla was honored with the Dr. Patangrao Kadam Memorial Award by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the occasion. The program was organized on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Kadam, the late Minister of Western Maharashtra and education stalwart.

 

'No place like India'

Poonawalla appealed to the students who wish to pursue education abroad and said that there is no place like India to fulfill dreams because of Bharati Vidyapeeth and other institutions like it. He said, "Even if you have to go abroad, come back as soon as possible."
