Covid-19: 11 types of Omicron sub-variants found in travelers from abroad, 124 positive in 19,227 tests

Amid apprehensions of a new wave of Corona in the country, 11 sub-variants of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 have been found in travelers from abroad. Samples of 19,227 international passengers were tested between December 24 and January 3. Of these, 124 were found to be Covid positive.

 

Samples of passengers coming to India from abroad were taken at international airports and seaports. In the investigation, 124 passengers found corona infected have been isolated. Government sources said that out of 124 positive infected, the results of genome sequencing of 40 have come. Of these, a maximum of 14 samples of Omicron's XBB.1 substrain were found. At the same time, BF.7.4.1 was found in one.

 

There was a slight increase in Covid infection in the country on Thursday. In the last 24 hours, 188 new cases were found, while 174 new cases were found on Wednesday. According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday morning, including new cases, a total of 4,46,79,319 have been infected in the country so far. At the same time, the number of active Covid cases has come down to 2554. While 5,30,710 have died so far.
