Congress leader Shashi Tharoor's tone is constantly changing. Despite being a member of the Congress party, he is often seen praising various government decisions, including those of PM Modi, on public platforms. This praise causes a stir within the Congress party.
Recently, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor openly praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Ramnath Goenka lecture. He praised the Prime Minister for outlining India's economic direction and emphasizing the country's heritage. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate expressed surprise at Tharoor's praise, calling it a "trivial and petty speech" and questioning how Tharoor could find anything worth praising.
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate expressed surprise at Shashi Tharoor's praise, calling it a "trivial and petty speech" and asking, "How could Tharoor find anything worth praising in it? It's astonishing. I found it a trivial speech. The Prime Minister thinks about the Congress day and night."
Nothing to praise
During a media interaction, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said, "I found nothing praiseworthy in the speech. I think the Prime Minister should answer many questions. He came to attend an event organized by a newspaper. He should have told us what his problem with unbiased journalism is. He should have told us why he's unhappy with those who show and speak the truth... Therefore, I see no reason to praise him."
What Shashi Tharoor Said
Significantly, the Lok Sabha MP from Thiruvananthapuram said on X, "Last night, I attended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Ramnath Goenka Lecture at the invitation of the Indian Express. He spoke about India's 'creative impatience' for development and emphasized an anti-colonial mindset."
He further wrote, "Overall, the Prime Minister's address was both an economic vision and a cultural call, urging the nation to be ready for progress. Despite battling a cold and cough, I was happy to be in the audience!"
He also took a dig at those who say he and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are always in "election mode" and said that commitment to development and being in "emotional mode" 24x7 towards people's sentiments helps the BJP win elections.
