During a media interaction, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said, "I found nothing praiseworthy in the speech. I think the Prime Minister should answer many questions. He came to attend an event organized by a newspaper. He should have told us what his problem with unbiased journalism is. He should have told us why he's unhappy with those who show and speak the truth... Therefore, I see no reason to praise him."

He further wrote, "Overall, the Prime Minister's address was both an economic vision and a cultural call, urging the nation to be ready for progress. Despite battling a cold and cough, I was happy to be in the audience!"
He also took a dig at those who say he and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are always in "election mode" and said that commitment to development and being in "emotional mode" 24x7 towards people's sentiments helps the BJP win elections.
