The central government has praised the Mumbai model for hospital management for Kovid patients. The Health Ministry praised the steps taken by the Corporation and the State Government together in Mumbai. Also cited the example of Pune to show the benefit of lockdown. Luv Agarwal, Joint Secretary in the Health Ministry, especially praised BMC's Hospital Management in Mumbai.
Luv Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry, said that hospital admissions in Mumbai were well managed. He said that 24 control rooms were set up in Mumbai for 24 wards. All the test results that came in the main control room were separated wordwise. Then sent to the control room in the ward. Medical staff and ambulances including doctors were given in the control room in the ward. Those who were found to be Kovid positive in the ward were analyzed by the medical staff that needs to be admitted to a hospital. Those who need the hospital were sent to an ambulance and admitted to the hospital. Also, 800 SUVs in Mumbai were made as a makeshift ambulance and a centralized dashboard for empty beds in the hospital.
The Health Ministry cited the benefit of the lockdown and cited the example of Pune for this. The Joint Secretary of the Ministry said that strict containment has its benefits. If we look at Pune, the case positivity was 69.7% in March. After which the first-night curfew was imposed there and a week curfew was imposed from 29 March to 12 April, which reduced the case growth. The curfew was then extended by another 15 days. Where the case positivity was more than 41% before the lockdown started, the same has now come down to 23%.
Love Aggarwal said that so far more than 1 crore 90 lakh patients have been cured across the country. At present, 37 lakh 15 thousand cases are active. He said that the past two days have seen a decrease in cases. It is an early trend, but we have to keep trying to keep it going. There are more than one lakh active cases in 13 states. Earlier there were 12 states but now Madhya Pradesh has also been added to it. There are 9 states where there is more than 25% positivity. There are 533 districts where case positivity is more than 10% and strict action is required here. This includes 45 districts of Madhya Pradesh, 38 of UP, 36 of Maharashtra, 34 of Tamil Nadu, 33 of Bihar, 28 of Karnataka.
