New Health Warning: New picture from December on the pack of tobacco products, it will be written 'It is the cause of painful death'

A big step is being taken to raise awareness against tobacco products, which are becoming a major cause of deadly diseases like cancer. Tobacco products manufactured, imported, or packaged in the country on or after December 1, 2022, will have a new warning.

 

A new warning on the pack of tobacco products will be written as 'Tobacco causes a painful death. The Union Health Ministry has issued a notification to publish a new picture on the pack of products manufactured from tobacco from December 1, 2022. This rule will be valid for one year.

The notification also said that a picture with a health warning shall be displayed on tobacco products manufactured or imported or packaged on or after December 1, 2023, for the next year. It will be written as a warning, 'Tobacco users die at a young age.

 

The Ministry amended the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Rules, 2008 on July 21. Accordingly, this notification has been issued regarding new health warnings. It said that the amended rules under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Third Amendment Rules, 2022 will come into force from December 1, 2022. This notification is available in 19 languages ​​on these websites http://www.mohfw.gov.in"www.mohfw.gov.in and http://ntcp.nhp.gov.in"ntcp.nhp.gov.in.

 

Violation of rules will be considered a punishable offense

 

The government said that violation of these guidelines would be a punishable offense. It provides for imprisonment or fine under section 20 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertising and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply, and Distribution) Act, 2003.
