Cyclone Biparjoy moving towards the coasts of Gujarat has taken a very dangerous form. It is expected to hit the land at Jakhau in Kutch this evening. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy destruction due to this. A red alert has been issued for Kutch and Saurashtra regions. Several teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in Gujarat and Maharashtra to deal with any eventuality. The army is also ready. Wing Commander N Manish says that along with Gujarat, relief columns have been deployed at many places.
Wing Commander said that there is fear among people about the cyclone. Hence all the armed forces i.e. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Indian Coast Guards have prepared themselves to reduce the difficulties faced by the public. He is ready to help the local people in every possible way. He informed that the Indian Army has deployed more than 27 relief columns across Gujarat as well as at locations in Mandvi and Dwarka. Army officials have also launched relief operations jointly with civil administration as well as NDRF teams.
Indian Armed Forces have taken up the task of rescuing people safely as the extremely dangerous Cyclone Biparjoy approaches the coastal cities of Gujarat. In this sequence, the Indian Navy has deployed four ships equipped with Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Bricks, which will be added to the security as soon as information is received. In addition, the Army deployed five relief teams at Porbandar and Okha, and 15 relief teams at Valsura. These officers are ready to assist the people. Meanwhile, helicopters stationed at INS Hansa in Goa and INS Shikra in Mumbai were kept ready to provide immediate airlift service to Gujarat.
Significantly, Gujarat's Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey had told that the process of evacuating people from the coastal areas has been completed by Wednesday morning. More than 74,000 people were moved to safer places. A total of 74,345 people were taken to temporary shelters in eight coastal districts. About 34,300 people were evacuated in the Kutch district alone. After this, 10,000 people have been evacuated in Jamnagar, 9,243 in Morbi, 6,089 in Rajkot, 5,035 in Devbhoomi Dwarka, 4,604 in Junagadh, 3,469 in Porbandar and 1,605 in Gir Somnath district.
At the same time, the Director General of the Meteorological Department Mrityunjay Mohapatra told that Cyclone Biparjoy is moving towards Saurashtra, Kutch. It is at a distance of about 180 km from Jakhau. The speed of wind is running at a speed of 125-135 kmph. He said it would reach the coast by evening. It is a very severe cyclonic storm.
