The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology has approved the revised draft of the Information Protection Act. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave this information on Thursday. Bureaucrat-turned-politician Ashwini Vaishnav informed that a copy of the amended Bill on Protection of Information was shared with the committee.
The amendment of the bill got approval
Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav addressed the annual NTLF event in Mumbai. During this, he said that the Standing Committee on Information Technology of the Parliament has approved the amendment of this bill.
After the Joint Parliamentary Committee recommended some changes to this bill in 2021, the government had withdrawn it and also promised to introduce a new bill. The draft of the amended bill was brought by the government last year.
The government's big goal is to pass Telecom Bill
Earlier, Ashwini Vaishnav had said that the government has taken several policy reforms, which have made India a leading manufacturer of telecom equipment, research and development, and 5G rollout. In such a situation, global companies are keen to invest in the country's telecom sector.
Talking about the proposed Telecom Bill, he expressed hope that it would be passed in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament. He had said that it would bring in the necessary momentum in policy reforms, licensing mechanisms, and regulatory aspects of the telecom sector.
