Delhi Flood Alert: Flood warning in Delhi, Yamuna flowing above the danger mark; the water level of the river will rise further!

Due to continuous rain in the mountains, the water level of the Yamuna in the capital has reached above the danger mark, due to which the administration has issued a flood warning. The water level of the Yamuna River in Delhi has crossed the danger mark of 205.33 meters. The water level of the Yamuna has reached 205.41 meters. The water level of the Yamuna may increase further in 2-3 days.

 

Earlier on Wednesday night at 8 pm, the water level at the old railway bridge was recorded at 205.35 meters, which is above the danger mark of 205.33 meters. According to the flood control department, about 41 thousand cusecs of water is being released every hour from Hathinikund Barrage, but in Delhi, about 56 thousand cusecs of water is being released every hour from Wazirabad Barrage, and about 46 thousand cusecs of water is being released from Okhla. At the same time, tents and relief material have been set up in the Palla area. All departments including irrigation and flood control, revenue, health, Delhi Police, are on alert.

 

Rescue work will start when it reaches 206 meters

Preet Vihar SDM Sandeep Yadav, the nodal officer from the Revenue Department for flood control, said that relief and rescue operations will start when the water level of the Yamuna reaches 206 meters. 40 boats and a team of divers are ready at the Delhi Boat Club. People in low-lying areas like Yamuna Bazaar, ITO, and Kashmiri Gate have been advised to remain alert. Taking lessons from last year's floods, the administration has mobilized rescue teams and relief material.

 

Appeal not to go to the riverbank

The administration has appealed to the residents not to go to the river bank and to take updates from the Central Flood Control Room. The Meteorological Department has warned of rain, but there is relief from the expectation of a drop in the water level of the Yamuna.
