BJP is currently going through its golden period. One after the other, it is continuously winning big elections. But today it won the second biggest election in Delhi without contesting the election because Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party refused to field its candidate. With this, the victory of BJP's mayoral candidate Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh, and deputy mayoral candidate Jai Bhagwan Yadav is certain. Now BJP's triple-engine government is certain to be formed in Delhi. It already has a government at the Center and Delhi state. After the Aam Aadmi Party refused to contest the elections, it is now certain that it will become the mayor of the Municipal Corporation as well. Now the entire responsibility of Delhi's development will be on the BJP.
In the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections held in December 2022, the Aam Aadmi Party won 134 out of 250 seats. The BJP, which has been in power in the corporation for 15 years, has success in only 104 seats. But later many councillors of the Aam Aadmi Party joined BJP and some have become MLAs after winning the assembly elections. At present many seats are vacant in Delhi Municipal Corporation because many councillors of BJP-Aam Aadmi Party including Chief Minister Rekha Gupta have become MLAs. But in these circumstances, the BJP has got a majority in the Municipal Corporation House. It is believed that this is the reason why Aam Aadmi Party decided to withdraw from the election.
Will play the role of responsible opposition- AAP
Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi Marlena said that her party will not contest the election for the post of Mayor in the Municipal Corporation elections. She alleged that the BJP tries to break the opposition leaders in the whole country. Efforts have been made to break many leaders-councillors of her party too. She said that Aam Aadmi Party will not field its mayor candidate in the Municipal Corporation elections, but will play the role of responsible opposition. She said that now the entire responsibility for the development of Delhi is on the BJP because it has control over all three places, Centre, State, and Municipal Corporation.
BJP's challenge increased
BJP has been continuously accusing Aam Aadmi Party of creating hurdles in the development of Delhi. It has alleged that Arvind Kejriwal himself does not do any work, but blames the BJP for his failure. But now with the BJP government coming to power in the center, state, and municipal corporation, BJP will not have any opportunity to blame anyone else. Now it will have to show complete development. BJP has been talking about developing Delhi as the capital of developed countries. Now it will have to live up to the issues like cleanliness of Delhi, availability of water, cleanliness on roads, greenery in Delhi, reduction in air pollution, availability of drinking water for people, and cleaning of Yamuna.
