On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with party workers from Assam via the NaMo App as part of a public outreach program titled ‘Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot Samvad’ (My Booth is the Strongest). During this interaction, PM Modi sought the views of the party workers and offered them a key mantra—to work hard—to ensure victory in the elections. In the course of the interaction, PM Modi also highlighted the rapid development that has taken place in Assam over the past decade.
‘Congress Used to Sign Agreements Only on Paper’
While interacting with BJP booth workers in Assam, Prime Minister Modi stated that peace is the foremost prerequisite for the development of the state. He noted that the state had grappled with instability for a long time, but things have changed over the last decade. He informed the workers that the government has signed 12 peace accords with various organizations across the Northeast. He urged BJP workers to remind the public that the Congress government used to sign agreements merely on paper—solely to grab headlines and mislead the people.
‘Assam Has Witnessed a Long Period of Instability’
The Prime Minister remarked, “We have witnessed a time when Assam was engulfed in the flames of violence. Assam endured a prolonged period of instability, but the situation has transformed over the last decade. Today, thanks to the efforts of the BJP’s ‘Double Engine’ government, a newfound sense of confidence is palpable across the state.” He alleged that during the Congress regime, peace accords were disregarded, and the youth were left to drift aimlessly.
He added, “Under Congress rule, no agreement reached with militant or student organizations ever met with success. The Congress party betrayed the Bodo community.” The Prime Minister asserted that the BJP has worked tirelessly to establish peace and secure the future of the youth, and that these peace accords are now being implemented with sincerity at the grassroots level.
‘Need to Remind People of the Congress Tenure’
The Prime Minister urged party workers to remind first-time voters about the track record of previous Congress governments, emphasizing that even a minor misstep could set the state back significantly. PM Modi appealed to the party workers to work diligently to ensure a hat-trick of victories for the BJP-NDA government.
Appealed to Party Workers to Strive for Victory
The Prime Minister also stated that everyone is working hard to ensure a ‘hat-trick’ for the BJP-NDA government in Assam. Addressing the workers, he said, “I welcome the workers of the Assam BJP. Like you, I too am a party worker. I fulfill whatever responsibility is entrusted to me. Today, I have the opportunity to interact with you at the booth level. I know that all of you are working with the resolve of ‘My Booth, the Strongest’.” He also urged BJP workers to alert the public about AI-generated videos currently circulating in the state. Elections for the 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly are scheduled to be held on April 9. The BJP-led NDA government has been in power in the state since 2016.
