New Delhi, Jan 18 (IANS) A 26-year-old Delhi Police constable Sunday fired at himself with his service pistol and is battling for his life, police said.
Vipin, who is posted at Barakhamba police station in the heart of the capital, fired at himself around 8.00 a.m., a few hours after issuing his service pistol from the police station.
"He was rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here, where his condition is stated to be critical," a police official said.
Vipin hails from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. His marriage was fixed for Feb 10.
Police said what caused Vipin to shoot at himself is being probed.
