Speculation is rife after Indian T20 team vice-captain Shubman Gill was ruled out of the fourth T20 match against South Africa. Gill was unavailable for the match. According to news agency PTI, Gill has been ruled out of the remaining two matches of the five-match T20 series against South Africa due to a toe injury. It is understood that Gill sustained the injury during a training session. However, Gill's absence has sparked reactions on social media, with fans questioning whether Gill is actually injured or if he has been dropped.

Gill had previously suffered a neck injury during the Test series and made his return to the field with the T20 series. Gill sustained the neck injury during the Kolkata Test, after which he was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata. Gill also missed the ODI series against South Africa. He was included in the squad for the T20 series, but his participation depended on his fitness. Gill was declared fit just before the first T20. Now, the news of his injury has once again caused concern.

 

 

Some fans made light of Gill's absence. Many fans believe that Gill has been dropped. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not released any official information regarding Gill's fitness.

 

 

Gill is going through a bad patch.

Vice-captain Shubman Gill is going through a bad patch, and his performance in the ongoing T20 series against South Africa has also been quite poor. His opening the innings has destabilized India's top order. Gill has shown his class in other formats, but in T20 Internationals, he is yet to display the confident batsman he is in Tests and ODIs. In the three matches of the ongoing T20 series against South Africa, Gill has scored 32 runs. Gill scored four runs in the first match, zero in the second, and 28 in the third. His average in this series is 10.66, while his strike rate is 103.22.

 

 

Fourth T20 washed out due to fog

The fourth T20 match between India and South Africa, scheduled to be played on Wednesday at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, was abandoned without a ball being bowled. Dense fog resulted in extremely poor visibility, making it impossible to play the match. India currently leads the series 2-1. The final match will be played in Ahmedabad on December 19.
