The Delhi Traffic Police on Friday issued a traffic advisory regarding arrangements and restrictions for the smooth conduct of full dress rehearsals to be held on January 23 ahead of the Republic Day parade. Police said that the rehearsal of the parade will start from Vijay Chowk at 9.50 am on Monday till the National Stadium.
The parade will start from Vijay Chowk, pass through Gate No. 1 to Rajpath, Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate to enter the National Stadium around the Princess Palace, turn left towards Tilak Marg and turn right at C-Hexagon.
For the smooth running of the parade, no traffic will be allowed on Rajpath from Vijay Chowk to India Gate from 6 pm on Saturday till the parade ends on Sunday.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vivek Kishor said that no cross traffic will ply on Rajpath at Rafi Marg, Janpath, Man Singh Road from 11 pm on Saturday till the parade ends. The 'C'-Hexagon-India Gate will remain closed for traffic from 9.15 am on Sunday till the entire parade and tableau are entered.
The traffic advisory said that commuters have been advised to avoid the route of the parade from 9 is to 12.30 pm. While there will be no restrictions as of now for people traveling from North Delhi towards New Delhi Railway Station or Old Delhi Railway Station, it is advised to plan their journey well in advance and plan their journey to avoid possible delays. Carry enough extra time to reach the destination.
The advisory said that Kamla Market, Delhi Secretariat (IG Stadium), Pragati Maidan (Bhairon Road), Hanuman Mandir (Yamuna Bazar) around Park Street/Udyan Marg, Aram Bagh Road (Paharganj), Mori Gate, ISBT Kashmere Gate The movement of city bus services at ISBT, Sarai Kale Khan and Tis Hazari Court will remain closed.
Buses going from Ghaziabad to Shivaji Stadium will go on NH-24, Ring Road, and terminate at Bhairon Road. Buses coming from NH-24 will take a right turn on Road No. 56 and terminate at ISBT Anand Vihar.
Buses coming from the Ghaziabad side will be diverted towards Bhopura Chungi for Wazirabad Bridge in Mohan Nagar. It has been said in the advisory that all interstate buses coming from the Dhaula Kuan side will terminate at Dhaula Kuan.
Metro Rail services will be available for passengers at all metro stations during the full dress rehearsal ceremony. However, boarding and de-boarding will not be allowed in the Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan from 5 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
The drivers are requested to follow the traffic rules and follow the instructions of the traffic police personnel posted at all the intersections. People are requested to plan their travel well in advance and keep enough time with them to avoid inconvenience.
