5 reasons for Pakistan's victory: South Africa's fielding is famous, failed in the same... 23-year record is also intact

Pakistan defeated South Africa in the T20 World Cup to keep their hopes of entering the semi-finals alive. Rain also came in the match held at Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday. Pakistan beat South Africa by 33 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method. PAK batsmen and bowlers did a great job.

If you look at the match, 5 reasons are found, which became the reason for the defeat of South Africa. The biggest reason was the fielding of South Africa, for which he is famous. There is also a record that has not been broken for 23 years.

1. Famous for fielding, failed in that

Batting first, the score of the Pakistan team was 43 runs for 4 wickets in 7 overs at one time. At the crease Nawaz and Iftikhar were present. After this South Africa gave Iftikhar two chances.

Quinton de Kock dropped the difficult catch of Iftikhar on the first ball of the 8th over. After this, on the fourth ball of the same over, Klaasen missed the opportunity to run out of Iftikar.

After getting 2 life donations, Iftikar scored fifty. He also made half-century partnerships with Nawaz and Shadab.

2. Fast bowlers got success on a flat pitch, but the pressure did not build

South Africa has a good pace battery, but these bowlers come in handy only when the pitch is helping. In Sydney, the pitch did not help but 3 fast bowlers got 3 wickets and one Nortya got 4 wickets. Could not put Pakistan under pressure due to runs spent. Nortya got two wickets at the tail.

Against India in Perth too, the South African bowlers were getting help from the pitch. African bowlers battered India. Ngidi, Rabada, and Nortya took 8 wickets. The economy was also not more than 7.

The match against Pakistan was played in Sydney. The pitches here are similar to the pitches of the Indian subcontinent. Especially the mood of the pitches of Pakistan is similar, where a lot of runs are scored. The Pakistani batsmen took advantage of this and despite losing 4 wickets early, they could make a big score of 185 runs.

3. Shadab's all-round performance, South Africa did not have Miller

Shadab of Pakistan performed all-round. The first 52 runs in just 22 balls. After this, he also took 2 wickets for just 16 runs in 2 overs.

South Africa did not even have their destructive batsman David Miller, who knows how to pull the team out of pressure and difficult situations. Against India too, Miller scored a 59-run victory. His loss to South Africa is very real.

4. Rain and Duckworth Lewis

South Africa's score in the 9th over was 69 for 4 i.e. 117 runs were needed to win. Achieving this score in 11 overs was not very difficult, as it was only a little more than the run rate of 10. This run rate is not impossible in T20 matches.

In the 9th over itself, the umpires decided to stop the match due to rain. Shadab took the wickets of Bavuma and Markram in the first over i.e. in the 8th over. This is where the trouble started for South Africa.

When the game resumed, the Duckworth-Lewis Law (DLS) came into force. South Africa got a target of 142 runs in 16 overs. That is, now he needed 73 runs in 5 overs. For this target, Africa had to bat at a run rate of 15 in every over. This run rate was also the reason for the defeat.

Africa was defeated by DLS even 20 years ago

In 1922, on 22 March, the second semi-final of the ODI World Cup Happened between Africa and England. Chasing 253, South Africa had to score 22 runs in 13 balls at one time. Then the rain came. When the match started again, South Africa got the target of 22 runs in 1 ball due to DLS. Even then DLS was unlucky for Africa and it was also the reason for the loss in the 2022 T20 World Cup.

5. Psychological advantage made a 23-year-old record

There have been a total of 9 matches between Pakistan and South Africa in any World Cup since 1992. This includes both ODI and T20 World Cup. The special thing is that the South African team has never been able to beat Pakistan in the World Cup since 1999. Since then PAK has beaten Africa 6 consecutive times. Pakistan has a psychological advantage against South Africa in big tournaments. This time too Babar Azam's team took advantage.
