कोरोनावायरस के प्रकोप के बीच दिल्ली में सीआरपीसी की धारा 144 लागू कर दी गई है
दिल्ली पुलिस ने मंगलवार को दक्षिण-पूर्वी दिल्ली के शाहीन बाग इलाके को खाली कर दिया, जहां नागरिकता कानून और नेशनल रजिस्टर ऑफ सिटीजन (एनआरसी) के खिलाफ विरोध प्रदर्शन तीन महीने से अधिक समय से जारी था।
छह लोगों को पुलिस ने हिरासत में ले लिया जिसमें छह महिलाएं और तीन पुरुष शामिल थे। पुलिस का कहना है कि आवश्यक वस्तुओं और आपातकालीन वाहनों के परिवहन में किसी भी असुविधा को रोकने के लिए कार्रवाई की गई थी।
सीआरपीसी की धारा 144 जो एक स्थान पर चार या अधिक लोगों के विधानसभा को प्रतिबंधित करती है, दिल्ली में कोरोनावायरस संक्रमण के मद्देनजर लगाया गया है। अनुभाग के तहत, लोग विरोध प्रदर्शन को इकट्ठा या पकड़ नहीं सकते हैं।
कई दिनों से, पुलिस सीओवीआईडी -19 के प्रकोप के कारण प्रदर्शनकारियों को साइट छोड़ने के लिए कह रही थी, हालांकि, प्रदर्शनकारियों ने कोई ध्यान नहीं दिया। हालांकि भीड़ सोमवार से काफी कम हो गई थी, लेकिन कुछ लोग अभी भी साइट पर विरोध कर रहे थे।
टेंट और विरोध से जुड़ी अन्य चीजों को भी पुलिस ने हटा दिया।
शाहीन बाग क्षेत्र महीनों तक सुर्खियों में रहा और हाल ही में हुए दिल्ली विधानसभा चुनावों में भी एक प्रमुख मुद्दा बना।
विरोध पिछले साल दिसंबर में शुरू हुआ था, जिसके कारण क्षेत्र के आसपास कई सड़कें बंद हो गई थीं, जिससे दिल्ली से नोएडा जाने वाले यात्रियों के लिए मुश्किल हो गई और इसके विपरीत। सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने भी हस्तक्षेप करने और मध्यस्थों को नियुक्त करने का प्रयास किया ताकि प्रदर्शनकारियों को एक अलग साइट पर शिफ्ट किया जा सके लेकिन वार्ता उन्हें समझाने में विफल रही।
