Due to the Kumbh bath in Prayagraj, there is a lot of boom in the booking of tourist vehicles. The demand is so much that the tourist vehicle operators are not able to fulfill it. Because there is a shortage of vehicles. Efforts are being made to improve the situation by sending Delhiites to Prayagraj by getting tourist buses and tempo travelers from other states, but the traffic jam on the road is making the way difficult.
According to experts on the matter, in recent days, there has been a 40 percent increase in the booking of Prayagraj. This is because, now only a few days are left for the completion of Kumbh. In such a situation, the remaining people are trying their best to take the Kumbh bath on the scheduled date.
Surge in demand for tourist vehicles
In this situation, when tickets are not getting confirmed on trains. Also, there is a huge crowd at the railway stations. Then people are also trying to reach Prayagraj by road.
According to people associated with the tourism industry of Delhi, at present, more than 700 tourist vehicles are going from Delhi to Prayagraj on booking every day. There are around 350 tourist buses, 150 tempo travellers, and 200 other tourist vehicles. This demand is different from the roadway buses.
The package includes Kumbh as well as Ayodhya and Kashi Darshan.
Due to high demand, the operators of tourist buses and tempo travellers have also increased the fare. This increase is from 30 percent to 50 percent in some cases. In that, too, many bookings are for Kashi and Ayodhya along with Prayagraj. The package for the Kumbh bath is for two to three days while for the other two places, it is for three to four days.
According to Harish Sabharwal, National President of All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), this demand is unexpected. They have not seen such a demand in 40 years of business experience. He says that everyone wants to go to Kumbh.
How much have the travel hours increased compared to earlier?
Now that Kumbh is about to conclude, this demand has increased further, to meet which tourist vehicles are being called from cities including Haridwar, Agra, Meerut, Ambala, and Amritsar, but there is a shortage of vehicles everywhere.
On top of that, the traffic jam on the way to Prayagraj is increasing difficulties. The journey which should be completed in 12 hours takes 16 to 20 hours. In that too, vehicles are being stopped before Prayagraj. Due to this, expenses and days are increasing.
According to Sanjay Samrat, President of the Delhi Taxi and Tourist Transporters Association, Kumbh has given tremendous work to Delhi's tourism vehicle industry. The situation is that vehicles are falling short compared to the number of bookings coming.
Every booking group wants to come to Kumbh by 26 February. Because the last bath of Kumbh is on the day of Mahashivratri. Those making bookings include residents of colonies, business class, and private people as well.
How much fare is a 45-seater bus charging?
As the demand is high, the fare of tourist vehicles has also increased. A 45-seater bus which normally charges Rs 90,000 for a round trip to Prayagraj is now charging up to Rs 1.2 lakh. Similarly, the fare of a tempo traveller has increased from Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000.
