The Tamil Nadu government is now preparing to open schools based in Delhi. The Stalin government is all set to inaugurate the 'School of Excellence and Model' scheme on Monday. This scheme is to change the status of government schools in the state. Now schools in Tamil Nadu will also be seen like government schools in Delhi.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will launch the scheme in the presence of his Tamil Nadu counterpart MK Stalin at an event to be held at the Government Bharati Women's College here.
According to news agency PTI, 26 Excellence Schools and 15 Model Schools are included in the first phase of this scheme. 'Thagaisal Palligal' and 'Mathiri Palligal' are the official Tamil names of SoE (Schools of Excellence) and Model Schools.
Stalin will launch the Muvalur Ramamirtham Ammayar memorial 'Puthumai Pen' (Modern Women) scheme. Under this, monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000 will be provided to girl students studying in government schools from classes 6-12 to higher education.
Stalin visited Delhi schools
In April, Stalin along with Kejriwal visited government schools in Delhi and praised the infrastructure in such institutions. He had then said that his government would set up similar educational facilities in Tamil Nadu. At the same time, now after the completion of the work, Kejriwal has been invited to the inauguration.
Improvements have been made in the scheme of government schools in the state
In the budget for 2022-23, the state government had said that the Movalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Memorial Marriage Assistance Scheme is being transformed into Movalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme. The enrollment ratio of girl students in government schools in higher education is very low and because of this aspect, this scheme has been improved.
Under this scheme, all girl students studying in classes 6 to 12 in government schools will be paid Rs 1,000 directly into their bank accounts till the uninterrupted completion of their bachelor's degree, diploma, and ITI courses.
About 6 lakh girl students can get benefits every year
Students will be eligible for this assistance in addition to other scholarships. Around 6 lakh girl students can potentially get benefits every year through this program. An amount of Rs 698 crore was allocated in the budget for this new scheme.
