New Delhi, Jan 21 (IANS) Congress leader Janardan Dwivedi Wednesday said he was "quoted out of context" by a news portal that he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In an interview to Rediff.com, the Congress general secretary was quoted as saying that Modi initiated a new era after the Lok Sabha polls.
Quick in refuting the report, Dwivedi said: "I said that whatever happened in the Lok Sabha polls in 2014 was neither Modi's victory nor BJP's... I believe that it was Congress' loss.
"Modi and the BJP were successful in making people believe that they closer to the 'aam aadmi' (common man) and that's why they presented their victory as the victory of Indian sentiment."
However, Rediff.com stood by its story.
