Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has alleged that a conspiracy is being hatched to remove him in Kathmandu and New Delhi.
According to Kathmandu Post, a leading newspaper in Nepal, Prime Minister Oli says, "It is not difficult to understand from the ongoing intellectual discussions, media reports coming from New Delhi, the activities of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and meetings in different hotels." That is how efforts are being made to actively remove me. "
He has imposed these allegations when his demand for his removal from the post of Prime Minister in Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is gaining momentum.
However, recently he had full support in the party and parliament on the issue of passing a new map in the Parliament of Nepal. In this new map, Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh are shown inside the territory of Nepal, while these areas have already been included in the map of India.
There have been reports of differences between NCP Chairman Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Prime Minister KP Oli in recent times. Oli had to face criticism from party members for not attending two meetings of the party's standing committee.
Also, there was a demand for his resignation. So is Nepal once again facing an internal political crisis?
Political stability crisis in Nepal
Due to the long struggle in Nepal, democracy has been established after the monarchy. The new constitution came into force after 20 September 2015 in Nepal. However, after the formation of the interim constitution in 2007 itself, the monarchy in Nepal came to an end.
Since this new system in Nepal, the situation of political instability has remained more or less the same. KP Sharma Oli became the first elected Prime Minister in October 2015 after defeating Sushil Koirala under this new arrangement.
But after a few months of this in August 2016, Pushp Kamal Dahal Prachanda became the Prime Minister of Nepal. He resigned from his post after just nine months and Sher Bahadur Deuba of the Nepali Congress Party became the Prime Minister. After Sher Bahadur Deuba, KP Sharma Oli was again elected Prime Minister of Nepal in February 2018.
The Prime Minister of Nepal has changed four times in the last four and a half years.
In this political crisis in Nepal, former diplomat Vishnu Prakash says, "This is his internal politics. There are many parties in Nepal and there are differences within those parties. Development is not happening. Nepal is a country which has a gold mine. It can become one of the rich countries of South Asia. Out of the capacity that Nepal has to generate energy, 40 thousand megawatts should have been produced by now but only 1000 MW has been produced. Their politics is done on the matter that India will steal our water or exploit us. There is no worry about water going waste in the sea for centuries. There is regret about this kind of politics. If many leaders are engaged in looking after their interests rather than the interests of the country, then this is an internal problem of Nepal. Only the Nepalese people can fix it, nobody else. ”
Anand Swaroop Varma, senior journalist and long-time tracker on Nepal's politics on this current political crisis in Nepal, says, "Nepal currently has a majority-elected government. The current crisis that has arisen in Nepal is not a crisis created by any opposition party. This is a crisis inside the party. This is a crisis of power pull. The top leaders of the Communist Party of Nepal have sunk into the swamp of selfishness. The whole battle is now over who will be the president of the party and who will be the prime minister. KP Oli is also the President and the Prime Minister. However, the joint president of the party is Prachanda. "
Anand Swaroop says that one of the reasons for this internal tussle within the party is that according to Prachanda, there was an understanding inside the party that two and a half years KP Sharma Oli would be the Prime Minister and two and a half years he would hold the post of Prime Minister. According to that, now Prachanda should be made the Prime Minister.
They further say that the people of Nepal have been watching this pull of power for a long time. Now there is a furor inside the people, which can explode as a movement at any time.
Role of India and China
Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has targeted India to destabilize their power. His statement is also being seen as a growing influence of China in Nepal.
To this, former diplomat Vishnu Prakash says, "It is no secret that there are many differences within the Communist Party of Nepal." So in that case it is an emotional thing to raise India's bogey. They have done this It is very clear that for the last several weeks, it was coming out that the Chinese Ambassador is quite active. If KP Oli also knows the trend then it is no rocket science to understand that there are external factors also. But it has not gone well. "
He further says, "If he sneezes, he might have been sent to cold from India. Nothing can be done in this. Now see that they made the matter settled for centuries disputed by amending the constitution. All this is done to blame someone. It is the same in Pakistan, if anything, it has been done for India. So this is his politics. But the loss is only for their own country and their people. "
Anand Swaroop Verma says about this, “India has had a role in Nepal's politics since 1950 but in recent years China has started to sideline India a little in Nepal. India has some responsibility for this. In 2015, if India had not imposed an economic blockade on Nepal and expressed no resentment about their constitution, then perhaps China would not have got this opportunity in Nepal. It was a diplomatic mistake from India. "
Oli's anti-India image
After this economic blockade, KP Sharma Oli's government had agreed with China. After this, his nine-month-old government had fallen and Prachanda's government came to power. At that time, allegations were leveled against India that India had played a role in removing Oli from the post of Prime Minister.
On this, Anand Swaroop says, "This was said openly in the media of India and especially Nepal."
He further states, "Although the Congress Party of Nepal has been considered as a supporter of India, but for the last few years, it is seen that Prachanda's trend is towards India. Prachanda, who was earlier considered to be anti-India, has now become an image of pro-India, and Oli, who was considered pro-India, has become anti-India. These are the political circumstances there, from which such a belief has arisen. "
In an interview with the Times of India after becoming prime minister again in 2018, KP Oli had said that he would take lessons for the future instead of being trapped in the past but it seems that his strained relationship with India is going to continue.
