US President Donald Trump, addressing the US Congress, made a major statement on the India-Pakistan conflict. Trump claimed that if he had not intervened, a nuclear war could have broken out between the two countries, and the life of the Pakistani Prime Minister would have been in danger.
In his address, Trump stated that he ended eight wars in his first 10 months in office. He also stated that the situation between India and Pakistan had become so serious that it could have escalated to a nuclear conflict. According to Trump, 35 million people said that if he had not intervened, the Pakistani Prime Minister could have died. He also stated that he had stopped conflicts such as those between Israel and Iran, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Congo, Rwanda, and Cambodia and Thailand. Trump also praised Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Trump has previously claimed to have prevented wars.
Trump has repeatedly stated that he played a key role in averting potential wars between the two countries. Trump has claimed credit for stopping the India-Pakistan conflict more than 80 times since May 10 last year. He has previously reiterated this claim at various events, including the Board of Peace.
The US President has maintained that the situation was extremely critical at the time and that his initiative averted a major conflict. However, India has consistently rejected his claim. The Ministry of External Affairs has also clearly stated that hostilities were not stopped by any third-party intervention and that the decision was made after discussions at the DGMO level between the two neighboring countries.
