The two-day 'India Drone Festival 2022' will begin at Pragati Maidan in Delhi on Friday, as steps toward becoming the world's largest drone power. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the festival at 10 am. During this, Prime Minister Modi will also talk to farmer drone operators and companies and startups that make and operate drones for use in various tasks including farming, fertilizer spray, military, security, border, and monitoring.
Over 1,600 people, including government officials, foreign diplomats, representatives of the Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces, and public and private sector companies, will be present at the festival. More than 70 people will display their technology during the exhibition. During this, the use of drones in various works will be demonstrated. Drone pilot certificates will also be given during the festival. There will be a product launch as well.
The drone taxi prototype will come out
PM Modi will also display a prototype of a drone taxi. This will be the highlight of the Made in India Drone Taxi Prototype Festival. It has been prepared by E-Plane, a company started by IIT Madras. It is expected to get the certificate by 2025. In this episode, it will be tried with the army first. It is estimated that by 2028-29, drone taxis can be seen flying in the Indian sky.
Government helping domestic industries
Until recently, India, completely dependent on imports for drones, is rapidly moving towards self-reliance in this matter. A ban on the import of drones was also announced in February to promote the domestic industry. Now drone imports are allowed only for R&D, defense, and security purposes. Clearance will be necessary for these also. Domestic drone manufacturers will benefit from the move to ban imports. There is no ban on the import of drone parts. The government has also launched a Purchase Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the drone industry, which has received an overwhelming response.
