Eid-ul-Adha 2023: Bakrid festival has special significance in the religion of Islam. Bakrid is celebrated on the 10th day of Zul-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar. Thus, in the year 2023, Bakrid is on 29th June. The moon has been sighted in some parts of the country on June 19 this year. Therefore, Bakrid will be celebrated on the tenth day of the sighting of the moon i.e. on June 29. Bakrid is also called Eid-ul-Adha. The meaning of Eid-ul-Adha is the Eid of sacrifice. Bakrid is the second major festival in the religion of Islam. According to religious experts, Bakrid is celebrated 70 days after the end of the month of Ramadan. There is a law to sacrifice a goat on this occasion. In simple words, a goat is sacrificed. Let us know the history and religious importance of the Bakrid festival-

 

History of Bakrid

According to the experts of Islam religion, Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim Mohammad dedicated his life to God. Used to worship God every day. 'Khuda' was very pleased with his prayer. One day God wanted to test Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim. In this, God asked Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim Mohammad to sacrifice his most precious thing. At that time, the most precious thing for him was his son, which he got after many years of vows. He decided to sacrifice his son.

God i.e. Allah was very pleased with the worship of Hazrat Ibrahim. Hazrat Ibrahim loved his son very much and could not see him being sacrificed. So he blindfolded himself and sacrificed his son. However, when he opened his eyes, he saw that his son was standing beside him and was a sacrificial goat. Since then this day started being celebrated as Bakrid.

 

Significance of Eid-ul-Adha

This is the last month of the Islamic calendar. After this, the new year begins. The goat is sacrificed on this day. A part of it is given to relatives and friends. The second part is given to the poor and needy. The third and final part is kept for the family. There is a festive atmosphere at Bakrid festival in the country and the world.
