Drug Seized in Mumbai: MD drugs worth Rs 1400 crore seized, five including a woman arrested

Mumbai Police has seized a large consignment of the narcotic drug mephedrone in the neighboring Palghar district. Its value has been stated to be Rs 1400 crore. Five accused have been arrested.

 

Mumbai Police officials said that the weight of the seized drug is more than 700 kg. This action was taken by the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Mumbai Police. 703 kg MD drug was recovered from the Nalasopara area. SAIL DCP Datta Nalwade said that five drug peddlers have been arrested in the case.

 

This consignment was caught during a raid on a pharmaceutical company. Nalwade told that the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai Crime Branch conducted this raid. It was reported from the informer that the banned drug Mephedrone is being manufactured in this pharmaceutical factory. The DCP said that four accused were arrested in Mumbai, while one person was arrested in Nalasopara. He said this is one of the major consignments of narcotics caught by the police in Mumbai in recent times.

 

Identified as Meow Meow Drug or MD Drug

 

Mephedro is also known as 'meow meow' or MD. Contains a synthetic powder that is a stimulant. It is considered a prohibited narcotic substance under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
