Chandigarh, March 24 (IANS) A top poll official in Punjab Monday asked the state's principal secretary for home to respond to complaints against police officers, saying the earlier reports sent were not found satisfactory by the Election Commission.
Punjab's Additional Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Raminder Singh said the commission had received complaints against a few senior police officers and a report was sought on these after inquiry.
He said the reports received through additional director general of police (ADGP) in charge of the election cell were found not satisfactory as the complainants were not involved in inquiries.
"Taking the exception, the CEO has asked the principal secretary (home) to send his remarks on replies submitted by ADGP (election cell)," Singh said here.
The complaints were against the police commissioner Ludhiana, inspector general (intelligence), Bathinda, and senior superintendents of police (SSPs) of Ferozepur, Mansa and Bathinda regarding model code of conduct violations.
The Congress had earlier also complained against Punjab Director General of Police Sumedh Singh Saini but the Election Commission did not take any action after getting a report from the CEO.
