Lucknow, March 26 (IANS) The Election Commission (EC) Wednesday instructed officials to ensure a single window system for granting permission for campaigns, processions, public rallies and other election-related issues.
The new system will come into force in all districts and will also be used by candidates for taking permission for use of vehicles, loud-speakers and far-off air strips during campaigning of the 16th Lok Sabha polls.
The single window cell will be opened in the offices of the returning official.
Candidates and their campaign managers will have to fill up requisite forms seeking permissions. The requests would be entertained on first-come first-serve basis as per the poll panel norms, Chief Election Officer Umesh Sinha said.
