Mayank Agarwal caught England flight, can open in Birmingham Test of ENG vs IND series

Opener Mayank Agarwal has caught a flight to England. Mayank shared a photo of himself after boarding the flight on his Instagram story and wrote, 'Birmingham', this player has been included in the Test squad as the cover of Team India captain Rohit Sharma. The last Test match of the five-match series between India and England was rescheduled to 2021, which is now to be played in Birmingham from July 1. Earlier, Team India played a practice match against Leicestershire, during which Rohit was found positive for the Covid-19 test.

The suspense remains on whether Rohit will be able to play the Birmingham Test. KL Rahul is already not part of the Test squad due to injury, so if Rohit does not play, Mayank and Shubman Gill can open the innings for Team India. The good news for India is that if Rohit's RTPCR test comes back negative, he will not need to be isolated and will be able to play the Birmingham Test.

India is currently leading 2-1 in this series. When the four Tests of this series were played in 2021, the captain of Team India was Virat Kohli, while the head coach was Ravi Shastri. This time the captain is Rohit, while the head coach is Rahul Dravid. At the same time, Joe Root was the captain of England. The England team will also take the field with a new captain and a new head coach. Ben Stokes has been given the Test captaincy of England, while Brendon McCullum is the new head coach of the team.
