Tauktae storm has spoiled the weather patterns in many states. Generally, where it is hot in May, it is raining in 6 states right now. This has also brought down the temperature here. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rains have occurred in Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand due to the storm. The 120-year-old record of rain in Delhi has been broken.

 

On Wednesday, it received 119.3 mm of rain, which is the highest rainfall in a single day in May since 1901. Rajasthan has been raining continuously for 14 hours, while snowfall has started on the hills of Kedarnath. According to the Meteorological Department, the threat of Yas storm coming in the Bay of Bengal is also hovering over many states, which may show its effect between 22 to 26 May.

 

119.3 mm rain in 24 hours in Delhi

The maximum temperature fell to 23.8 degrees Celsius after the rain on Wednesday in Delhi. It is 16 degrees below normal. After 70 years, such a low temperature has been recorded in May. The minimum temperature was recorded at 19.3 degrees, which is 7 degrees below normal. Earlier in May, Delhi had such a low temperature in 1951. Due to heavy rains in Delhi, many areas were flooded. This also affected traffic. The Meteorological Department considers 12 mm to be light, 15 to 64.5 mm is normal, 64.5 to 115.5 mm as heavy, and 115.5 mm to 204.4 mm as excessive rainfall.

 

Rajasthan: More than 14 hours of rain in many districts including Jaipur

The impact of cyclonic storm tauktae was also seen in eastern Rajasthan on Wednesday. Several districts of Jaipur, Bharatpur division had a period of continuous rain and strong winds for more than 14 hours. Due to this change in the weather, the temperature of the day remained below 25 degrees Celsius in 7 districts of the state on Wednesday. The night temperature in Alwar reached 21.2 degrees Celsius.

 

Warning of heavy rains in northern Madhya Pradesh

The impact of cyclonic storm tauktae is visible in Madhya Pradesh. For the last 3 days, northern Madhya Pradesh has been raining continuously. There is a possibility of heavy rains with thunder and light winds in northern Madhya Pradesh and drizzle or light rain in the rest of the state including Bhopal. On Tuesday, the rain was recorded in 30 districts.

 

Bihar: Rain in 19 districts including Patna

In Bihar, 19 districts including Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Gaya, Nawada, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Begusarai, Lakhisarai have been raining since Thursday morning. The Meteorological Department has alerted Patna, Bhojpur, Buxar, Siwan, Gopalganj, Saran, East Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Jehanabad, Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Gaya, Nawada, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, and Jamui. . There has been a warning of lightning in these areas.

 

Uttarakhand: Heavy rain in Rudra Prayag, snowfall in Kedarnath

Intermittent rains are continuing in many districts of Uttarakhand. While heavy rains continue in Rudra Prayag, Kedarnath is also experiencing snowfall with rain. Hence the ongoing construction work in Kedarnath has been stopped. Along with this, many districts of Uttar Pradesh also received rains.

 

Chance of rain due to cyclonic storm in Chandigarh

The sky has been cloudy since Thursday morning in Chandigarh. Here the impact of cyclonic storm tauktae has lessened, it is not over yet. A Western Disturbance is also active, leading to good rains in some areas of the city. The weather remained cold throughout the day on Wednesday. The temperature has risen to 40.7 degrees in just one day in May. The maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 27.4 degrees on Wednesday, which was 10 degrees below normal.
