The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday called Rahul Gandhi again for questioning in the National Herald case. On Monday, Rahul was questioned for about 12 hours. He came out of the ED office late around noon. In the last 4 days, ED has questioned Rahul for about 42 hours. In this matter, ED will question Congress President Sonia Gandhi on June 23.

Rahul reached the ED office at around 11:15 am. When Rahul came out of the house on Tughlaq Road, Priyanka Vadra was also with him in the car. Rahul has been questioned by the ED team for 30 hours on 3 consecutive days from Monday to Wednesday last week. He was to appear before the ED on Friday as well but citing the health of Sonia Gandhi, he had sought an extension till Monday.

In the earlier interrogation, ED officials appeared dissatisfied with Rahul's answers. At the same time, Rahul Gandhi said- It seems that now you will have to come here daily because the interrogation will go on for a long time.

Apart from Rahul, Sonia Gandhi, Suman Dubey, and Sam Pitroda are also accused in the National Herald case. Two accused Oscar Fernandes and Motilal Vora have passed away.

Congress leaders' satyagraha

Congressmen stage a sit-in at Jantar Mantar against ED's questioning of Rahul Gandhi. Leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge, Salman Khurshid, K Suresh, V Narayanasamy, etc. participated in the Satyagraha at Jantar Mantar.

Till now only 50% of questions were answered

Only 50% of questions could be asked in 3 days questioning of Rahul Gandhi. According to sources, the ED officers appeared dissatisfied with their answers during interrogation. During interrogation, Rahul described Young India Limited as a company with no profit and no loss. ED officials asked to count the social works, which were done through this company.

ED's entry was done in 2015

ED's entry was made in this case in 2015. The ED had sent notices to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for questioning in the last week of May. However, earlier in April, ED also questioned two veteran Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Pawan Bansal.

When Motilal Vora's name came up, his son said – Rahul cannot make such allegations

Motilal Vora's son Arun Vora reacted to Rahul Gandhi's statements during ED's interrogation. It is being said that during interrogation in the National Herald case, Rahul Gandhi had taken the name of late party leader Motilal Vora in the transaction. According to Rahul Gandhi, all the transactions between AJL and Young India were handled by Motilal Vora.

In an interview, Arun Vora termed the allegations as baseless and said that he believes that Rahul Gandhi cannot make such allegations against his father. These are baseless allegations. The Congress leadership cannot be wrong and neither can Voraji.

What is the National Herald case?

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy filed a petition in Delhi's Patiala House Court in 2012 against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Congress's Motilal Vora, Oscar Fernandez, Sam Pitroda, and Suman Dubey for cheating the loss-making National Herald newspaper. Was accused of grabbing through misappropriation.

According to the allegation, these Congress leaders formed an organization named Young Indian Limited, ie YIL, to take possession of the properties of the National Herald and through it illegally acquired Associated Journal Limited, ie AJL, which publishes the National Herald. Swamy had alleged that this was done to take over the building of Herald House at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Delhi, worth Rs 2000 crore.
