Hyderabad, March 19 (IANS) Eight legislators of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) were on Thursday suspended from the Andhra Pradesh assembly for three days for creating a ruckus and stalling the proceedings.
Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao announced the suspension Minister for Legislative Affairs Y. Ramakrishnudu moved a resolution which was passed by voice vote.
The legislators of the main opposition party were suspended after they trooped into the well of the house, raised slogans against the speaker, tore papers and threw them. They wanted the speaker to give the mike to their leader, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
The opposition party took strong exception to the suspension.
Even as the speaker was giving a clarification, an angry Jaganmohan Reddy with folded hands left the house along with his party members.
Later, when the suspended members were addressing the media in the assembly premises, the security personnel evicted them on the ground that they can't speak to the media when the session was on.
A delegation of the party led by Jaganmohan Reddy later called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and complained against the speaker's behaviour.
