Voting to elect a new president will be held on 18 July and a countdown, if necessary, will be held on 21 July. In the election of the first citizen of the country, the BJP, which is in power at the center, has a strong position, but it will also need to deal with the opposition. Uikey hails from Madhya Pradesh, and Murmu hails from Mayurbhanj, a tribal district in Odisha. Apart from this, one name is increasingly being speculated, that of Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
