Voting to elect a new president will be held on 18 July and a countdown, if necessary, will be held on 21 July. There are speculations that a tribal woman or a Muslim candidate may be fielded by the BJP. The names of Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey and former Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu are running for tribal women candidates. Uikey hails from Madhya Pradesh, and Murmu hails from Mayurbhanj, a tribal district in Odisha. Apart from this, one name is increasingly being speculated, that of Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
