In the election of the first citizen of the country, the BJP, which is in power at the center, has a strong position, but it will also need to deal with the opposition. The reason for this is that the BJP has 48.9 percent votes and the opposition has 51.1 percent votes.

There are speculations that a tribal woman or a Muslim candidate may be fielded by the BJP. The names of Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey and former Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu are running for tribal women candidates. Uikey hails from Madhya Pradesh, and Murmu hails from Mayurbhanj, a tribal district in Odisha. Apart from this, one name is increasingly being speculated, that of Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
