A hearing was held in the Delhi High Court regarding the demolition of the shack of an 80-year-old woman who was taking care of about 300 stray dogs by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The court restrained the MCD from taking action till the completion of the hearing on Wednesday.
what is the matter
The MCD on Monday demolished the slum and shop of an elderly woman, Pratima Devi. The woman used to take care of 300 stray dogs in that slum. 80-year-old Pratima Devi also alleged that the MCD men had taken away her belongings as well. Also, the dogs were badly beaten. After snatching the slum, now he has to take support of the tree in the harsh winter.
People came forward to help the elderly
After the news of the demolition of the old man's slum, people are reaching out to help him. Some are bringing food for the dogs and some are bringing warm clothes for an elderly woman. Animal lover Suraj also reached out to Pratima Devi for help. He said that in this severe cold where people are finding it difficult to leave the house, this woman is helping so many stray dogs by sheltering them. People should help them.
He said that the action taken by the MCD is wrong. No prior notice was given to them. Taking care of so many dogs is not an easy task but she is not only providing homes to so many dogs but also providing them with food and water. She is also taking full care of them. People should come forward to help them.
'Amma gives shelter to stray dogs'
A person who works in the parking lot near PVR Saket said that he has been seeing the elderly woman helping the dogs for the last many years. He told the news agency ANI that many times people leave their dogs behind. Amma shelters and feeds these dogs. He alleged that earlier in 2017 also the MCD had demolished Amma's temporary shelter for dogs.
Will take care of dogs as long as they are alive
Pratima Devi is a dog lover. She has been living in the Saket area of Delhi since 1984. Here all the stray dogs of the surrounding area live with her and she takes care of them. She had a shop from which she used to feed dogs. Pratima Devi says that she will take care of the dogs till she is alive.
