If you have received an emergency alert on your phone today i.e. on July 20, then you do not need to worry. “Emergency Alert: Severe” message has come on the phones of many people at around 10 am today. Another message was written along with this message, which people did not pay attention to.

 

This message was sent by the Department of Telecom (DoT). It has been said by the Department of Telecom that it was a test message. According to the department, this message was an emergency trial so that people can be alerted in case of an emergency like a flood or any natural calamity.

How to turn on an emergency alert on your phone?

Usually, this alert is on by default in all phones so that people can be alerted to any disaster in case of emergency. If the setting of alerts is not on in your phone, then you can turn it on.

 

If you have an iPhone, go to the phone's settings and click on Notifications and turn on Government Alerts or if you don't want such alerts, turn them off.

 

This setting can be turned on or off even on Android phones. For this, go to the phone's settings and click on Safety and Emergency and click on Wireless emergency alerts and turn it on or off.
