Every year there is a decrease in the riots, and arrests have increased, the Center told in the Lok Sabha

The Union Home Ministry has told the Lok Sabha that 761 people have been convicted in the communal riots case between 2018 and 2019. Apart from this, 8,565 people have been arrested. Responding to a question, the ministry, while keeping the data of the National Crime Records Bureau, said that every year there is a decrease in riots. Bahujan Samaj Party MP Danish Ali had asked a question regarding the riots.

 

He had asked whether riots were increasing every year in the country. He had also asked what steps the government was taking to investigate the riots and provide relief to the victims. According to the NCRB report, charge sheets have been filed against 8358 people in these years. Every year the number of arrests, charge sheets, and convictions have increased in Delhi.

 

According to the data, no arrests were made in 2018 in connection with the Delhi riots. In 2019 11 people were arrested and in 2020 394 people were arrested. Bihar saw the highest number of arrests this year. The ministry said that between April 2008 and August 2016, the assistance of Rs 3 lakh has been given to the families of the victims, and Rs 5 lakh has been given after August 2016.

 

Earlier in the Lok Sabha, the Center had told that between 2016 and 2020, about 3400 cases of riots were registered. At the same time, the Center had told that 857 cases of communal riots have been registered in Kew 2020. The Center had told that the record of mob lynching is not in the data of NCRB.
