Firing near the hotel of the Norwegian team spread panic in the area. The incident occurred shortly before the opening match. Two people have died in this. According to reports, six people were also injured in the firing. This includes policemen as well.

 

However, this incident did not affect the match. The opening match started at its scheduled time. New Zealand's Prime Minister Chris Hipkins informed everyone about the incident. He said that this is not a terrorist attack. Hopkins said, "This is not a matter related to any threat to national security. The tournament will start at its own time." News agency Reuters reported that the shooting occurred near the hotel of the Norwegian players. The players are informed about their well-being on social media.

A fan event in the city was canceled after the shooting. Not only this, but the practice session of the Italian team also started late. The players were instructed not to leave the hotel after the firing. At the same time, the American Embassy informed about the safety of its players. US Vice President Kamala Harris is in Auckland to attend the opening ceremony. She is safe with her husband, Douglas Emhoff. When FIFA was asked about this, it said that the organization is aware of the matter and it will not affect the tournament. The opening match will start on its own time.
