Guwahati. Flames are still coming out of the oil well of the state-run gas utility Oil India in Tinsukia district of Assam. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and fire brigade are present on the spot to overcome the situation. Now reports of fire spread in nearby villages and death of two people are coming. Both bodies have been recovered. Significantly, this well was causing an uncontrolled leakage of gas for the last 14 days. The fire broke out on Tuesday. The fire that started in the afternoon was so fierce that it could be seen from a distance of more than two kilometers. Three experts from Singapore firm Alert Disaster Control were on the spot when the well opened fire. At that time some equipment was being removed from the well.
According to the information, 35,000 people from 700 families were sent to three relief camps as the leak began. Environment and Forests Minister Parimal Sukhabaidya said that the Assam government is doing its best to control the fire in the gas well. The situation is uncontrolled until now. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has spoken to the ministers of the central government. The Assam government is doing its best to control the fire and officials are working to control the situation. He said that the fire had spread to the surrounding villages.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Chief Minister's Office tweeted that Chief Minister Sonowal has spoken to the Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over phone regarding the incident. Sonowal also spoke to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to ask for Air Force help in extinguishing the fire.
Instructions to deploy emergency services at the scene
The Chief Minister has directed fire and emergency services, army and police officers to be deployed at the scene to control the situation. He also directed the district administration to ensure the safety of the people and appealed to the local people not to panic. Talking to reporters in Guwahati, Sonowal said that along with controlling the fire, all measures will be taken to save lives and properties of people.
