Gautam Gambhir was asked a question about the IND vs PAK match in the T20 World Cup. The head coach's reaction was captured on video.

Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir ignored a question about Pakistan boycotting their match against India in the T20 World Cup 2026. Gambhir chose to remain silent on the sensitive matter.

Gautam Gambhir departed for Mumbai on Tuesday evening. At the airport, journalists asked Gambhir questions and wished the Indian team good luck for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Gambhir thanked the journalists for their wishes.

Gambhir's Reaction

When Gambhir was then asked about his thoughts on Pakistan's decision not to play against India, the Indian head coach did not answer the question and left without giving any reaction. The Indian team is scheduled to play a practice match against South Africa in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Pakistan embroiled in controversy

It is worth recalling that the Pakistani government has granted permission for its cricket team to participate in the T20 World Cup 2026, but has not given approval for them to play against India. This decision has sparked widespread debate, given the economic and sporting significance of a global India-Pakistan match.

The ICC has not yet been officially informed by the PCB about the alleged boycott. The global governing body of cricket has already warned that there could be serious consequences if the match does not take place as scheduled.

India preparing intensely

Meanwhile, the Indian team is fully focused on its on-field preparations. India will play a practice match against South Africa on Wednesday. India and Pakistan are in Group A of the T20 World Cup 2026, along with Namibia, the Netherlands, and the USA. The India-Pakistan match is scheduled to take place in Colombo on February 15.
