New Delhi, Feb 11 (IANS) Amid the political crisis in Bihar, the BJP Wednesday said that a decision on who has the majority of MLAs will be made on the floor of the assembly.
BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi seeking a floor test and Nitish Kumar claiming support of a majority of MLAs were internal matters of the JD-U.
"Hopefully they will not divert their problem to the BJP," Hussain said. However, he said the party's decision on the crisis will be known in the state assembly.
"Within JD-U, if Manjhi government is in majority or not, it will be known in the floor test," Hussain said.
Taking a dig at former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, Hussain said he had broken his alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party to become the prime ministerial candidate of the third front.
"He is now a CM-in-waiting."
Answering questions about Nitish Kumar claiming majority support, he said party workers could have been counted as MLAs.
JD-U has expelled Manjhi from the party and has accused him of "horse trading."
Nitish Kumar is scheduled to meet President Pranab Mukherjee Wednesday evening to convey that he has the support of the majority of the MLAs in the assembly.
Party leaders said they would urge the president to ask Bihar Governor Keshri Nath Tripathi to invite Nitish Kumar to form the government as he had the majority.
They said they did not get a decision from the governor on their claim and had hence come to meet the president.
