There is a possibility of 10 crore more people taking a bath in the Ganga on Mauni Amavasya today in Prayagraj Mahakumbh. People started arriving in large numbers in the last one or two days. Due to Mauni Amavasya, the fair area is packed with devotees. People are continuously reaching Sangam. Meanwhile, news of the stampede came late at night. The government and administration are trying to keep the situation under control.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is constantly monitoring the situation of Mahakumbh and is in constant touch with the state government. He has spoken to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath three times so far. He has given guidelines for normalizing the situation and relief work.

In the matter, CM Yogi said that about 8-10 crore devotees are present in Prayagraj today. There is constant pressure due to the arrival of devotees towards Sangam Nose. Some devotees have suffered serious injuries while trying to cross the barricading on Akhara Marg. The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The Muhurta of Mauni Amavasya started last night, since then a large number of devotees have been coming.

Yogi said, 'The Prime Minister has taken stock of the situation four times so far. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Governor Anandiben Patel are also constantly taking reports of the situation. The situation in Prayagraj is under control, but the crowd is still huge. Saints of various akhadas have politely said that devotees should take a holy bath first and when the crowd subsides, the akhadas will proceed for the holy bath.'

He said that there is a lot of crowd on Sangam Nose, Nag Vasuki Marg, and Sangam Marg. I appeal to the devotees not to pay attention to any rumours. Ghats have been built in the entire Kumbh area, devotees do not need to go only towards Sangam Nose. Devotees should take a holy bath at their nearest ghats. We are ensuring proper treatment of injured persons. Railways have organized special trains to take the devotees back to their destination from various stations in the Prayagraj area.'

Stampede-like situation after the influx of devotees

Earlier, many people were reported to be injured due to a stampede-like situation after lakhs of devotees thronged the Maha Kumbh Mela on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya early Wednesday morning. After the incident, all the Akharas decided not to take Amrit Snan. However, now it is reported that the Akharas will go for bathing when the situation becomes normal. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi spoke to Chief Minister Yogi about the situation of the Kumbh Mela.

PM Modi reviewed the developments.

Official sources said that Prime Minister Modi spoke to Yogi about the situation in the Kumbh Mela, reviewed the developments, and asked for immediate relief measures. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appealed to the devotees on 'X' that those who are near the ghat of Maa Ganga, should bathe there and not try to go towards Sangam Nose.

The injured are being treated.

Earlier, Akanksha Rana, special executive officer for the fair, told reporters that a stampede-like situation arose due to the breaking of the barrier at Sangam Nose, in which some people were injured and are currently undergoing treatment. She said that no one's condition is serious. The injured have been admitted to the hospital set up in the fair area, where relatives of many injured have also reached.
