Indira Gandhi
Beant Singh and Satwant Singh, two bodyguards of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, shot and killed her on 31 October 1984. Both of them were reportedly upset with Indira's 'Operation Blue Star'. A third person was also involved in this murder, whose name was Kehar Singh. Kehar, however, was not involved in the shooting of Indira but was found guilty of plotting the murder.
Beant Singh was gunned down by his security personnel after he opened fire on Indira. Hundreds of people were killed in the 'Operation Blue Star' conducted by Indira with the help of the army against Khalistani terrorists in the Golden Temple, the holy site of Sikhs.
Rajiv Gandhi
Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India, was assassinated in a suicide attack on 21 May 1991. He sent peacekeeping forces to Sri Lanka during his tenure. Because of this, the Tamil rebel organization LTTE, ie Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, was angry with him. In 1991, when Rajiv Gandhi went to Sriperumbudur near Chennai to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, there was a suicide attack on Rajiv by the LTTE.
On the pretext of wearing a flower necklace to Rajiv, LTTE's female terrorist Dhanu (Tenmoji Rajaratnam) stepped forward. He touched Rajiv's feet and bent down and detonated explosives tied on his waist. The explosion was so strong that many people were blown to pieces. 16 people including Rajiv and attacker Dhanu died on the spot, while 45 people were seriously injured.
Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President, was assassinated in 1865. At that time he was watching the play 'Our American Cousin' at the Ford Theater in Washington. Lincoln's security guard John Parker, who was sitting on the balcony at the time of the incident, was not with him at that time.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

Both his daughters survived the attack as they were not present in Bangladesh. At present, Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, is the daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Liaquat Ali Khan
Born in Karnal, India, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Liaquat Ali Khan was assassinated on 16 October 1951 in Rawalpindi. Liaquat Ali Khan was addressing a gathering at Company Bagh in Rawalpindi before the murder.

Benazir Bhutto
Pakistan's first female Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on the evening of December 27, 2007. Benazir was the first woman to head any Muslim country. Benazir Bhutto was returning from Rawalpindi after addressing an election rally on the evening of the assassination. Then the attacker came near Benazir's car and shot him. Later he also blew himself up.
Along with Bhutto, 20 of his party workers also lost their lives and more than 71 people were seriously injured.
