From perfume boxes to marble pots, PM Modi presented G-7 leaders with unique gifts made in UP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi looks for opportunities to introduce the world to India's rich culture and heritage. The PM, who arrived in Germany to participate in the G-7 summit, presented invaluable objects of cultural importance to the heads of the world. The gifts that Modi presented included Dokra Art artwork, Meenakari, perfume box, marble table top, marble pot, Moon basket, and muslin mat.

 

The gifts given by PM Modi have a cultural history and tradition. These gifts bring out the identity of different parts of India and the specialty of the art. Modi presented a hand-woven silk mat to the Canadian Prime Minister. This mat is very popular for its beauty and art. Especially the weave of cashmere silk is considered unique. Kashmiri silk carpets are mostly made in the Srinagar area.

The Prime Minister presented a pink enamel artwork procured from Varanasi to US President Joe Biden. At the same time, he gave cufflinks and brooches ordered from Moradabad to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. According to sources, Modi presented Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida with black earthen pots sourced from Nizamabad in Uttar Pradesh, while British Prime Minister Boris Johnson gifted a platinum 'T-set'.

 

Gave perfume vials kept in zardosi boxes

 

According to sources, the Prime Minister gifted French President Emmanuel Macron with bottles of perfume kept in a box of zardozi. At the same time, he presented a marble 'table top' of Agra to the Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Draghi. In keeping with the age-old tradition of hand-weaving in Senegal, Modi chose moonshine baskets and cotton rugs as gifts for the country's President.

Because of the enduring association of Indonesian culture with Ramayana, the Prime Minister presented Ram Darbar utensils to Indonesian President Joko Widodo. These utensils were sourced from Varanasi, which is the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Modi. Modi presented a silk carpet, a famous product of Kashmir, to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
