During the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) conference in Qingdao, China, India suggested a formula to improve relations with China. India asked China to focus on four plans to reduce tension on the border. They also expressed happiness over starting the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra after six years.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met his counterpart Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun during the SCO conference. During this, China was asked to work on four formulas. This includes first following the disengagement plan of 2024, second efforts to reduce tension, third efforts to achieve the goal of demarcation and delimitation on the borders, and fourth to use the existing special representative level mechanism to resolve differences and prepare new procedures to improve relations.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh wrote on X that he interacted with Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Don Jun during the SCO Defense Ministers' meeting in Qingdao. We exchanged constructive and visionary views on issues related to bilateral relations. Expressed his happiness over the resumption of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra after a gap of almost six years. Both sides must maintain this positive momentum and avoid adding new complications to bilateral relations.

Apart from this, he presented Madhubani paintings of Bihar to the Chinese counterpart. Paintings made in the Mithila region of Bihar are characterized by bright colors and line drawings full of contrasts or patterns. These paintings are popular due to their tribal motifs and use of bright earthy colors. After the meeting with the Defense Minister, China said that India does not want any confrontation with China and is increasing dialogue and mutual trust.
