In the conference of Speakers of Parliament of G-20 countries, all the members appeared sensitive towards human rights. Concern was raised over the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in work globally.
At the same time, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that during the conference, the mission life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also seriously discussed. Besides, all the member countries have also committed to sharing the best practices.
P-20 conference concludes
The two-day P-20 conference concluded on Saturday. Expressing happiness over the success of the conference organized here in New Delhi, Lok Sabha Speaker Birla also shared some points. Talking to journalists on Sunday, he said that 29 countries participated in the conference. A total of 436 members including 48 Speakers and Deputy Speakers, members of the Senate, and 49 MPs participated.
Discussion regarding AI took place at the conference
This was the ninth P-20 summit, in which four sessions were held mainly on the topics of green energy, women-led development, and digital public infrastructure. The Lok Sabha Speaker said that there was also a serious discussion about AI at the conference. All the countries expressed concern over the increasing use of AI, saying that the use of AI is good for development, but its safe, reliable, and responsible use is very important.
Discussion on Prime Minister Modi's mission life
The members were of the view that the increasing interference of AI is going to increase the challenge to human rights somewhere, hence this will also have to be considered with sensitivity. Apart from this, during the training, Om Birla suggested the member countries come together and form a group on the smooth conduct of parliamentary work.
All the members were unanimous in sharing better work. Similarly, while discussing the mission life of Prime Minister Modi, everyone stressed adopting an environment-friendly lifestyle. He also told me what good work he is doing in this direction.
