Mumbai Indians faced Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 Qualifier-2. In this match, Punjab Kings defeated Mumbai by 5 wickets based on Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten innings of 87 runs. With the victory in this match, the Punjab team made it to the IPL final after 11 years.

Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya looked very disappointed after the defeat at the hands of Punjab. He took responsibility for Mumbai's defeat on himself after the match.

What did Hardik say after MI was out of IPL 2025?

 

In fact, the Mumbai Indians (Mumbai Indians IPL 2025) team, batting first, gave a target of 204 runs to Punjab Kings. This was the first time in the history of the franchise that an opposing team easily achieved a target of more than 200 runs against them.

Talking about the batting of Punjab Kings, Hardik praised Shreyas Iyer in the post-match presentation for the way he chased the target. Hardik said, 

"Yes definitely, especially the way Shreyas batted, he took chances and some of the shots he played were brilliant." 

 

Let us tell you that Iyer hit 8 skyscraper sixes in his innings. He also hit sixes in Ashwini Kumar's 19th over. Iyer played an unbeaten innings of 87 runs facing 41 balls in the match. 5 fours also came off his bat and his strike rate was 212. Apart from this, Hardik took responsibility for Mumbai's defeat in the post-match presentation and said, 

 

"I take the blame on myself. Maybe I could have managed my players a little better. I think it was parred, but as a bowling unit it had to play with a great plan, in a big game it matters, they were calm, they put us under pressure and we couldn't perform."
