The Defense Minister is giving information about the helicopter accident in Coonoor in Parliament on Thursday. A total of 13 people, including CDS General Bipin Rawat, were killed in this accident. The wife of the CDS is also among the dead. In this accident, only Group Captain Varun Singh has survived, he is also undergoing treatment. An inquiry has been ordered into the accident.
Giving information about the incident to the Parliament, Rajnath Singh said that CDC General Bipin Rawat was on his way to address the Army Service College, Coonoor on Wednesday. At 11:48, this helicopter took off from Sulur airbase. This helicopter was to land at 12:15. Shortly after the flight, his helicopter lost contact with ATC at around 12:08 pm. Later the local people set fire to the forest. On reaching there, he got the address of the helicopter. Relief work was carried out by the local people immediately after the accident. There the rescue operation was carried out.
All the people who were evacuated from there were immediately taken to the hospital. Group Captain Varun Singh, who survived the accident, has been put on life support. Every effort is being made to save them. Rajnath said that the country will never forget him. He said that soon after the accident, senior officials were sent to the site of the accident. In this case, an inquiry has also been ordered under the leadership of an officer of the rank of Air Marshal of the Air Force.
Rajnath said that the mortal remains of all those killed in the accident will be brought to Delhi today by special aircraft and tomorrow everyone will be cremated with full military honors. The Defense Minister's throat was full while making this statement. Following this statement, a two-minute silence was also observed in the Lok Sabha.
