Quad countries US, India, Australia, and Japan said on Thursday that the Indo-Pacific region would not be allowed to become Ukraine. This announcement has been made at a time when there are fears of a Chinese attack on Taiwan on the lines of Ukraine. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said in the virtual meeting that the leaders of the Quad agreed not to take advantage of Ukraine's situation in the Indo-Pacific.
Referring to Russia's attack on Ukraine, Kishida said, "We have also agreed that no one should be allowed to unilaterally change the status quo in the Indo-Pacific region." This step is significant towards a free and open Indo-Pacific region. Kurt Campbell, the White House coordinator for the Indo-Pacific, said on Monday that the US would keep its focus on the Indo-Pacific region despite the Ukraine crisis.
